NEWS AND UPDATES FROM MILITANT AND PROGRESSIVE  ORGANIZATIONS LEADING THE  WORKING CLASS MOVEMENT AND PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC STRUGGLES IN THE PHILIPPINES

THE MILITANT WORKERS' party Partido ng Manggagawa (PM) today answered back speculations about Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's possible plan to run as president in 2004 elections following the latter's alleged "triumphant" state visit. PM suggested to GMA that she should instead run as US President.

"Let's give GMA a shoe that fits her. Since it appears that she loves being with Americans and obediently follows all commands from the US government, why not run as President but please not in the Philippines." said PM Chair Renato Magtubo. "May be she fits better in the US or in one of its states," he added.

He continued, "Obviously, no matter how the president tries her hardest here convincing the people to admire her, majority of them, especially the workers and the poor tell that she's not a shoo-in for 2004 presidential elections. Because of her pro-war, anti-workers, anti-people style of governance, we doubt she can hit an additional six-year term. For the workers, a 3-year calamity is enough."

PM also reiterated that nothing is to be proud of to US declaration of RP as a non-Nato ally. Magtubo added that to regard Philippines as such doesn't deserve even a few claps since according to him: "This is just an extension of our 100- year subjugation. US would remain be our "master," while we would remain players of a slave role suffering the lashes of Uncle Sam's imperial might."

WARMONGERS' HONEYMOON

"Actually, that state visit should be called as "honeymoon of the warmongers" since GMA and Bush exchanged kisses of death and hugs of terror using Mindanao as their bed for another military attacks. By no doubt, GMA won the sympathy of the Bush administration because they share the same virtue, and that is the virtue of launching war and more wars at the expense of the entire humanity." Magtubo stressed.

"We have all the reasons to be alarmed for the many calamities that are hitting the country right now. We have the SARS attack, high prices of commodities; typhoons, floods and we have GMA who thinks of running again as president. It's a great wonder if the people can endure the last calamity," the PM Chair sarcastically commented.

Magtubo ended, "We remember all too well that she promised then not to run again. Whether she abides to that promise or not, workers will not spend a second thought not to waste even a single ballot for her." ##
